Understanding Standard Visitation in Oklahoma
I’m Tulsa Divorce Attorney, Palmer Johnson. Welcome to my video series where I answer frequently asked questions I get from my family law clients. Today’s question is, what is standard visitation? Standard visitation may vary slightly from region to region, but as a general rule in Oklahoma, standard visitation is going to refer to a schedule that looks something like this.
Typical Schedule for Standard Visitation
Every other weekend from Friday to Sunday with a non-custodial parent and a mid-week visitation that’s typically just like a pick the kids up and take them to dinner during the week that they do not have, on their off weekends. And then you would have split holidays back and forth where one parent has even years, the other parent has odd years. You typically split Christmas somewhere around the middle, alternate spring break.
Extended Visitation Options
You might allow both parents a summer vacation with the children or even some periods of extended visitation if that makes sense for your case. But that sort of typical every other weekend type of arrangement that people think of when they think of a divorce is still what standard visitation refers to.
